Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) a Nigerian celebrity worn the Peoples Democratic party ticket for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State again after a re-run election.
Recall that Banky W on May 22, won the party primary election that was conducted. He won by a large margin, defeating his opponent with over 25 votes. However, the result was cancelled after his opponent was declared winner instead.
The musician and actor however, won the re-run election that was held on June 6, 2022 with a land slide vote of 24 to 5.
The election took place at the PDP secretariat on Alpha Beach Road, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lekki. The election started in the evening and was held for 30 minutes with 2 contestants, 28 delegates from the wards and 1 national representative which brought the delegates to a total of 29.
Bankole Wellington contested against Sam Aiboni, a legal practitioner.
At the end of the election, Banky W was declared winner and described the process as peaceful and transparent.
