Famous singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been apprehended by the Ogun State police command for failing to comply with a police invitation. This follows the emergence of two videos on Tuesday, which showed the musician cursing and manhandling some Nigerian police officers. The police had earlier given the singer a 72-hour ultimatum to turn himself in, which expired on Friday. The police condemned Portable’s actions and have threatened to prosecute him. The singer had claimed that the police were called to his bar by an internet fraudster to arrest his staff members without reason. However, the police stated that they acted on a petition.
According to Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Portable has been arrested and is currently being held at the state headquarters of the police in Eleweran, Abeokuta. It was reported that the Zazu singer was taken into custody after ignoring five invitations from the police. Portable is expected to remain in police custody until Monday when he will be charged in court.
