Yesterday, several prominent Nigerian figures including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife Dolapo, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State (represented by his deputy, Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele), and former governor of Ogun State Aremo Olusegun Osoba, gathered to pay their final respects to Prince Bola Ajibola, former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. The event was attended by several other dignitaries as well.
Ajibola Laid to Rest in Abeokuta’s Islamic Mission for Africa Premises
Following the Janazah prayer, led by the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheik Sa’dallah Bamgbola, the remains of Ajibola were interred within the sprawling Islamic Mission for Africa (IMA) premises. The IMA is a center that Ajibola established decades ago, located in the Abiola Way area of Abeokuta.
VP Osinbajo Pays Tribute to Late Legal Icon, Prince Bola Ajibola, at His Burial in Abeokuta
Speaking to newsmen at the burial ceremony, Vice President Osinbajo recounted his personal interaction with the late Prince Bola Ajibola, during his time as Special Adviser to the Attorney-General of the Federation. The VP hailed Ajibola’s belief in Nigeria and his commitment to serving with integrity, and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have been mentored by him.
Meanwhile, former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba, eulogized Prince Ajibola as a passionate personality who dedicated his life to education and law, and who upheld the legacies of his forefathers as a proud prince of Egbaland.
“His unwavering dedication to education and law in Egbaland, Nigeria, and across the globe was unparalleled, and his service as a judge at the World Court in The Hague cemented his legacy as an exceptional legal mind. His contributions to the field of law will be deeply missed.”
