NDLEA Seizes Over 1.5 Tons of Marijuana at Tincan Port Across 5 States; Also Confiscates 648,050 Opioid Pills in Lagos, Imo, and Taraba
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a total of 1,559.3kg of marijuana at Tincan Port across five states. Additionally, the agency has seized 648,050 pills of opioids in Lagos, Imo, and Taraba.
In a related development, NDLEA operatives arrested a 34-year-old South American man from Suriname, Dadda Lorenzo Harvy Albert, at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers State. He was caught trying to bring 117 parcels of cocaine into Nigeria, which were concealed in extra-large latex condoms and factory-packed inside bottles of 100ml body spray.
NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, disclosed that a suspect claimed to have traveled from Suriname, located on the North Eastern coast of South America, on April 2nd, to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and then to Nigeria on April 7th, 2023, aboard a Qatar Airways flight in search of his long-lost Nigerian father whom he called “Omini.” Meanwhile, NDLEA officers at Tincan seaport in Lagos intercepted 110 parcels of Colorado, a strain of cannabis, weighing 55kg, hidden in a container marked MSCU 4972769 from Toronto via Montreal, Canada
