The President of United Arab Emirate Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has passed on at the age of 73.
Sheikh Khalifa who has served as UAE president and ruler of Abu Dhabi since November 3, 2004 was confirmed dead this Friday morning by the state news agency WAM.
“The Ministry of Presidential Affairs condoles the people of the UAE and the Islamic world……on the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on Friday, May 13,” WAM news agency in a statement.
40days mourning has been announced by the ministry of presidential affairs for the passing of His hihhnes Sheikh Khalifa. For now the Vice president Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum would act as interim president until a new president is elected.
