An Islamic Sharia Court in Ningi, Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has sentenced three men including a 70-year-old to death by stoning having found them guilty of homosexuality and raping two boy, an official said on Friday.
The case against the three condemned persons commenced on Tuesday June 14, 2022, when members of the Hisbah Vanguard operating in the Ningi LGA through Adamu Dan Kafi, prosecuted the trio before the Sharia court.
The convicted persons are: Abdullahi Beti (30), Kamilu Ya’u (20) and Mal. Haruna (70).
The Hisbah Vanguard told the court that the the three men were arrested committing the offense of homosexuality at Gwada village in the Ningi LGA
After listening to the prosecution and offences brought against them, the trial Sharia judge, Munka’ilu Sabo-Ningi, adjourned the case to June 28, 2022 for judgement.
The convicts, Beti, Ya’u and Haruna, proved guilty to the charges brought against them.
After hearing the statements by witnesses as well as admittance of guilt by the accused persons, the trial judge, Munka’ilu Sabo-Ningi, sentenced them to death by stoning.
This, he said, was based on the provisions of Section 134 of the Bauchi State Penal law of 2001 as well as the provisions of Fiquhussunah Jizu’i number 2 at page 362.
