A two storey building has collapsed in the palm groove area of Lagos State. The abandoned building is located at No 15, Oke Arin Street, Ilupeju Palm Grove.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident in a statement, said structure collapsed in the early hours of Wednesday.
Although no life was lost, a man sustained minor injuries from the collapse of the building.
“Further investigation revealed that the incident occurred at about 12:45 am due to aging of the structure,” LASEMA said in the situation report. “Fortunately, no loss of life.
“However, one adult male sustained a minor injury and has been taken to the hospital. The affected building has been cordoned off in order to prevent any threat. Operation has been concluded and Cobra team heading back to base.”
Lagos state has recorded a lot of building collapses in the past, as the government works towards stopping the trend.
Last year in November, a block of luxury apartments under construction in the Ikoyi area of the State collapsed killing about 40 people.
Three months after that, another building in Yaba area of Lagos State under construction collapsed trapping some of the workers inside.
Atleast two people were left dead in May when a two storey building located at Lagos Island collapsed during a heavy rainfall.
