Terrorists again struck in Millennium City, Chikun local government of Kaduna state, killing a civilian Joint Task Force Commander and another resident, while abducting 16 people including a medical doctor and six members of his family.
Few days after striking at Danbushiya where the terrorists left with six people including the wife of a military officer, they returned Tuesday night to invade Sabon Gero a community in Millennium City and killed a civilian JTF commander, before living with 16 captives, but six captives were rescued during the attack.
The bandits stormed the community after 10pm on motorcycles and started shooting sporadically to put fear into the residents especially those that may want to oppose their nefarious activities.
The vigilante members immediately opened fire at the approaching bandits without being aware that they were very close to them.
“The bandits opened fire and hit the commander on his legs and he fell down and they shot him on the head scattering his skull. While, a resident that was also hit with a bullet died on the way to the hospital,” a source, said. Adding that two people lost their lives and 16 others were abducted, while six were rescued during the attack.
He said the bandits might have targeted the house of a medical doctor in the area, as “they went straight to his residence and abducted him and six members of his family. They stormed other houses and abducted nine other people”.
Another resident of the community, Jacob lsa, said the situation could have been worse if not that they quickly informed the neighbouring communities who came out to support them in chasing away the terrorists.
“That was how we were able to rescue six abducted persons,” Jacob said.
As at the time of filing the report, the police and the state government were yet to react to the development.
