Napoli, who are the current Serie A leaders, will have to face AC Milan without their star striker Victor Osimhen due to a groin injury. Osimhen, who is a 24-year-old Nigerian international, has been instrumental in Napoli’s success this season, scoring 21 goals in Serie A and helping the team to the brink of their third Serie A title. However, his absence from the team due to a groin injury means that he will not be able to play in the upcoming match against last season’s champions.
According to Napoli, Osimhen complained of pain in his groin after returning from international duty, and subsequent medical tests revealed the injury. This is undoubtedly a significant blow for Napoli as they look to secure the title, as Osimhen has been a key player for the team this season. Nonetheless, they will have to make do without him and hope that other players can step up in his absence.
The club has stated that they will review his status next week. Currently, Napoli is leading the Serie A with a 19-point lead over their closest pursuers, Lazio, with only 11 matches remaining. AC Milan, who are the defending champions, have not been able to mount a strong title defence this season and currently sit in fourth place, 23 points behind Napoli.
