Popular Nigerian musician, Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, recently disclosed that he gave all of his first million naira to his mother when he was 17 years old. During a recent interview with Z100 New York, the singer explained that he recognized that his mother needed the money more than he did. He felt that it was not appropriate for him to be driving around in a car while his mother had none of her own. Therefore, he made the decision to give all of his earnings to his mother. Despite the temptation to indulge in the luxury of owning a car at a young age, he prioritized his mother’s needs and put her first.
“Transferring all of that to her, any investment she decides to pursue… I was able to generate over a million naira when I was 17, and even more than that. Nevertheless, it is a great feeling to be in a position where you can provide for your loved ones.
The artist behind the hit track “Calm Down” expressed that his greatest achievement lies in his ability to provide for his family and create opportunities for others. He credits his success to the people who have given him a chance to make a difference in the world. “I feel blessed to have received the opportunity to impact the world in such a positive way,” he said. “And I am excited to see how the people I have helped will go on to make their own impact as well. I work hard not just for myself, but for them as well. As I continue to grow and succeed, I am determined to open doors of opportunity for those who have supported me along the way.”
