In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideowo, comedian Ayodeji Richard Makun, popularly known as AY Makun, shared further insight into his longstanding feud with fellow comedian Bright Okpocha, also known as Basketmouth. AY revealed that Basketmouth is not prone to apologizing, even in situations where an apology may be warranted. This revelation comes amidst a series of accusations and counter-accusations exchanged between the two comedians over the past few weeks.
Coincidentally, I had shared a picture of the car I had gifted my wife two days prior to that tweet. As a result, people visited his page and assumed that his post was directed at me. While I was in London, Bright contacted me and reassured me that the post had nothing to do with me. It was a rare gesture that I appreciated since he normally wouldn’t go to such lengths. I was elated to receive his call, and I believed that it would restore the balance that I had been hoping for in our relationship.
Upon returning to Nigeria, I contacted him while he was having a show. I mentioned that his show was on the same day as my Port Harcourt event, but proposed the idea of collaborating on a skit. I still have the voice notes on my phone, and he said he would consider the idea and get back to me. In the end, he walked past me at the event only 2-3 weeks later, displaying a clear reluctance to collaborate. This behavior has since become the norm for him, as well as others who align with him. Unless someone is exceptionally talented and needed, they are not granted access to his platform.
