Renowned Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman has shared details of a recent cancer scare that required him to undergo two biopsies. The 54-year-old star, best known for his role as ‘Wolverine’, took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal that the biopsies were conducted to check for basal cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer caused by overexposure to the sun or tanning beds.
In a video message posted on his Instagram page, Jackman explained that his doctor had noticed some unusual marks on his body, which could potentially be basal cell carcinomas. He also took the opportunity to encourage his fans to take sun safety seriously, urging them to always wear sunscreen.
Despite the health scare, Jackman remained upbeat and positive throughout the message, and expressed his gratitude to the healthcare professionals who had supported him throughout his treatment.
“I wanted to inform you that I recently underwent two biopsies. In case you happen to see me on the street, or elsewhere, I wanted you to hear about it directly from me. My doctor, who is excellent, noticed some small things that could be basal cells, which are the least dangerous of skin cancers. I will find out in the next two or three days if this is the case. I urge you all to remember that summer is coming, and to wear sunscreen. It is not worth the risk, no matter how much you desire a tan.
It is worth mentioning that all of this happened 25 years ago and is just now coming to light. The actor, who was born in Australia, is well-known for his role in X-Men as Wolverine.”
“Among his notable achievements, he has received multiple accolades, such as the Best Actor Golden Globe Award for his performance in ‘Les Miserables,’ and the Best Compilation Soundtrack Grammy Award for his role.”
