Nigerian Chef Hilda Baci Sets New Guinness World Record for Longest Cooking Hours
On Monday morning at 7:45 am, Hilda Bassey Effiong, also known as Hilda Baci, broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking hours previously held by Indian chef Lata Tondon. Tondon’s record of making meals for 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds was surpassed by Hilda’s impressive feat.
At the time of filing this report, Hilda Baci had cooked for an impressive 88 hours and 19 minutes, surpassing the previous record held by Indian chef Lata Tondon. Her goal is to cook for a total of 96 hours, with the task expected to be completed by 5pm on Monday.
Baci has been receiving massive support for her feat, particularly from Nigerians, celebrities, and politicians in the country. The event has seen the likes of Nollywood actor Charles Okocha, actress Kate Henshaw, singer Tiwa Savage, media personality Enioluwa, and many others show their support for the chef.
On Sunday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited the venue to show his support for Baci, a talented chef who is no stranger to cooking competitions. In fact, Baci was a participant in the inaugural edition of the Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021, where she made Nigeria proud by emerging as the winner and walking away with a grand prize of $5000.
